Ebonyi State University, popularly known as EBSU, is a state-owned university located in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
Established as a full-fledged multi-disciplinary university in 1999, EBSU has grown into one of Nigeria’s leading state universities, offering quality education across various disciplines, including Medicine, Law, Engineering, Agriculture, Education, Sciences, Social Sciences, and Management Sciences.
The history of EBSU dates back to the former Anambra State University of Science and Technology (ASUTECH), which operated a campus in Abakaliki for Agricultural Sciences.

The enabling law establishing EBSU received executive assent on January 14, 2000, marking the beginning of its autonomous operation. EBSU General Admission Requirements 2026/2027
To gain admission into EBSU through UTME, candidates must:
- Score at least 150 in the 2026 UTME examination.
- Choose EBSU as their first-choice institution or apply for a change of institution through JAMB.
- Possess at least five O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
- Participate in the EBSU Post-UTME screening exercise.
- Upload their O’Level results on both the JAMB CAPS and EBSU portals.
EBSU Direct Entry Requirements 2026/2027
Direct Entry candidates seeking admission into EBSU must:
