About Ebonyi State University (EBSU)

Ebonyi State University, popularly known as EBSU, is a state-owned university located in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Nigeria.

Established as a full-fledged multi-disciplinary university in 1999, EBSU has grown into one of Nigeria’s leading state universities, offering quality education across various disciplines, including Medicine, Law, Engineering, Agriculture, Education, Sciences, Social Sciences, and Management Sciences.

The history of EBSU dates back to the former Anambra State University of Science and Technology (ASUTECH), which operated a campus in Abakaliki for Agricultural Sciences.

Following the creation of Ebonyi State in 1996, the institution was renamed Ebonyi State University College and subsequently upgraded to a full university by the Ebonyi State Government in 1999.

The enabling law establishing EBSU received executive assent on January 14, 2000, marking the beginning of its autonomous operation. EBSU operates multiple campuses within Abakaliki, including the Permanent Site Campus, Presco Campus, Ishieke Campus, and CAS Campus, each housing different faculties and academic units.

  • Choose EBSU as their first-choice institution or apply for a change of institution through JAMB.
  • Possess at least five O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
  • Participate in the EBSU Post-UTME screening exercise.
  • Upload their O’Level results on both the JAMB CAPS and EBSU portals.
