Covenant University Postgraduate (PG) Form 2024/2025

A candidate must meet the standard University requirements as well as any additional requirements for admission to the program of interest in order to be considered for admission to any of the postgraduate programs.

For the 2024/2025 academic session, Covenant University is taking applications from adequately qualified applicants for admission to its postgraduate programs leading to the award of Masters and Ph.D. degrees.

General Requirements for Covenant University Postgraduate (PG) Form 2024/2025

Interested candidates must complete the application form on the University portal and submit all relevant documents, including certificates of degrees and/or diplomas, academic transcripts, reference letters, and a 500-word statement of intent in the proposed research area, as specified on the application form. Candidates who are Nigerian citizens must also produce a copy of their discharge, exemption, or exclusion certificate from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Each candidate must request and ensure that the institution(s) participate in the process, as well as send the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, authentic academic transcripts. Only those who have submitted their transcripts will be considered for admission.

Masters Degree Programme:

Candidates for admission to Covenant University’s Masters degree program must have a Bachelor’s degree from Covenant University or another university recognized by the Senate of Covenant University in the relevant discipline with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division). Candidates with a third-class bachelor’s degree or HND (Upper Credit) and a Postgraduate diploma (PGD) in a related discipline with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5.00 scale may be considered. Two academic sessions of full-time study are required for the award of a Masters degree.

Ph.D Degree Programme

Candidates for admission to Covenant University’s Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree program must hold Covenant University’s Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the relevant discipline, or any other university recognized by the Senate of Covenant University. A applicant must have a minimum CGPA of 4.00 on a 5.00 scale or equivalent (6 0% ) in the Masters (M.A/M.Sc/M.Eng/M.Tech) degree result to qualify for direct entry into the Ph.D degree program.

Candidates for the M.Phil/Ph.D program must have a CGPA of 3.50–3.99 on a 5.00 point scale or equivalent (55–59 percent) in their Master’s degree. M.Phil degree will be awarded by Covenant University to any M.Phil/Ph.D applicant who fails to achieve a minimum CGPA of 4.00 after completing coursework. Such candidates will be required to prepare a lengthy essay/project and will be awarded an M.Phil degree in the relevant discipline upon successful defense of the project. The M.Phil/Ph.D. program is designed to prepare students for doctoral studies. Candidates with professional Master’s degrees are ineligible for the Ph.D program unless they have an M.Sc in the relevant discipline. For full-time study, the minimum term of study for a Ph.D degree is three academic sessions.


Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The Covenant Business School (CBS) offers an MBA program with specializations in accounting, business administration, finance, marketing, human resource management, entrepreneurship, and real estate. Candidates for admission to the MBA degree program must have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline from Covenant University or another university recognized by the Senate with at least a second class lower division.

Candidates with a third-class bachelor’s degree, an HND (minimum of Lower Credit) in a relevant discipline, or professional qualifications such as ACA, ICAN, ACIB, or other professional qualifications must also have a Postgraduate diploma (PGD) with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 to be considered for admission. Two academic sessions are required for the MBA degree to be awarded (Full-time). “Applicants should be aware that all Covenant University postgraduate programs are full-time, with the exception of the M.Sc/ACIB program, which is part-time.”

Screening and Selection Criteria for Covenant University Postgraduate (PG) Form 2024/2025

All applicants must go through a screening process that includes written and oral tests in the program of their choice. A candidate must receive a minimum of 50% in each of the categories to be deemed eligible for admission. Before the final admission may be handled, the candidate’s academic transcripts must be obtained.

Candidates from outside the United States who apply to any of the programs will have their screening exams administered online. Candidates should send their intention (interest) to the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies through email at, along with their Skype ID phone number and preferred time/date.

  • Log in to your account after it has been successfully created and fill out the online form.
  • After you’ve successfully completed the online form, click the submit button to get to the payment page.
  • The application form costs merely N15,000.00 (fifteen thousand naira). For bank and internet payments, there is an additional transaction fee of N600.00 and N900.00, respectively.
  • Payment can be done at either of these banks (Covenant University Microfinance Bank, Ecobank and GTBank).
  • You must submit your passport after making a successful fee payment, after which your application number will be displayed (please copy it).
