A piece of rubber 10cm long stretches 6mm when a load of 100N is hung from it. What is the strain?

ANSWER: Option C

EXPLANATION: Using the equation

Strain = ∆L/L

Where; ∆L —> change in length

             L —> Original Length

If L1 is the original length and L2 is the length after the exertion of force, then

∆L = L2 – L1

In this case, ∆L is 6mm.

Change 6mm to cm by dividing it by 10, then insert into the formula to arrive at your answer.
