Meaning of Cut Off Mark

What does the term “Cut Off mark” mean? A Cutoff mark is a score set by a specific institution as the criterion for admitting students to a particular department of study. This score is usually awarded to candidates based on their performance in a particular examination.

However, students who have scored well above the required Cut Off mark will be granted admission and given preferential treatment in the admission process over those who just scored the exact Cut Off mark.

Nigerian Defence Academy General Cut Off Mark 2026/2027

This is the minimum score that a student must achieve to be admitted to a school. If your score falls below a school’s cut-off mark, you won’t be able to register for their Post-UTME, which means you won’t be admitted to that school.

Each school is free to set its own Cut Off Mark. They are, however, unable to set a Cut Off mark below the JAMB minimum.

The departmental cutoff mark is the minimum score required for admission to a school’s course or department. The more competitive the course, the higher the Cut Off Mark.

NDA General Cut Off Mark 2026/2027

For the 2026/2027 academic session, the general cutoff mark for all courses at the Nigerian Defence Academy NDA is 180. 

So, every candidate who chose NDA in their last JAMB is expected to score a minimum of 180 to be eligible to apply for the post-UTME form and have a chance of qualifying for admission. Failure to score 180 is an automatic disqualification.

NDA Departmental Cut Off Mark 2026/2027

Below are the cutoff marks for each course;

Note: These are the official faculty-based minimum UTME cutoff marks used by the NDA for the 2026/2027 (78th Regular Course) admission exercise.

The Academy does not publish individual departmental cutoff marks. Candidates who meet the required UTME score must still pass the NDA Screening Test, the Armed Forces Selection Board (AFSB), the medical examination, and the physical fitness assessment before admission is offered.

NDA Admission Requirements 2026/2027

To be considered for admission, candidates should:

• Score the required UTME cutoff mark for their chosen faculty.
• Possess at least five (5) O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
• Be medically and physically fit.
• Register for and participate in the NDA Screening Test.
• Successfully pass the Armed Forces Selection Board (AFSB).
• Meet the academy’s age and citizenship requirements.
